A gender reveal prediction game does what every good party game should do: it gives people something to talk about before the big moment and something to argue about after. Guests submit their guesses from their phones, no app needed, and the leaderboard shows who called it closest.
The Questions That Make It Fun
Start with the obvious one and build from there.
- Boy or girl? The classic. Everyone commits before the reveal.
- Due date. Guests pick a date. The closest guess without going over scores the point.
- Birth weight. Pounds and ounces. Closest without going over wins.
- Birth length. Same scoring. Closest without going over.
- First initial of the name. If you are keeping the name a surprise, this is a good middle-ground question.
- Name guess. Open text. Scored on how close the guess is to the real name, so a near miss still earns something.
- Tiebreaker: Exact birth time. This one breaks any tie, so there is always a clear winner on the leaderboard.
How the Scoring Works
Each correct pick earns a point. For the number guesses, the scoring uses closest-without-going-over. Think of it like The Price Is Right. If the baby weighs 7 pounds 4 ounces and you guessed 7 pounds 2 ounces, you score. If you guessed 7 pounds 8 ounces, you do not, even if you were close. That rule rewards confident, precise guessing over random high estimates.
Text answers like the name are scored on similarity, so spelling variations still get partial credit.
Running It at Your Party
- Build the question list before the party. Keep it to six or seven questions so it stays quick.
- Set the cutoff time for when the reveal happens. Picks lock automatically at that time.
- Share one link in the group chat, the invitation, or just read it out when guests arrive.
- After the baby arrives, enter the real answers. The leaderboard updates and everyone can see who predicted best.
Guests do not need to download anything or create an account. They open the link, type a name, and submit. The whole thing takes under two minutes.
